When sending art, quality is everything.
The quality you send is the quality you get on your bibs.
Please send your layouts, art work, and/or logos to sales@marathononline.com as a separate addendum to your online or phone orders.  We don't have to ability to allow uploading of art in the web store as yet, but as soon as it becomes available (if it becomes available from our web store provider) we will add that option to the shopping cart for your convenience.

What Works

For best results please send a vectored .eps file with no fonts.  If there are fonts in your .eps file those need to be converted to outlines before sending the file to us.  If you have a lot of logos that need to be emailed you can compress those using as a .zip or .sit file type.  Sometimes spam programs will alter .eps files under the assumption that they contain a virus.  Using a compression program will avoid that.

If a bitmap is all you have then it becomes very important to send a logo with a high resolution.  Please send your bitmap file as a .tif file with a resolution of 300 DPI (dots per inch) or better for the best results.  Please know that if you have a 72 DPI image and you change the image settings to 300 DPI that DOES NOT add resolution to your image.  Once the resolution is gone from the image there is no getting it back.

Another way...  We do all of our prepress layouts in CorelDraw and we usually keep that program current.  If you have CorelDraw you can send a .cdr file. Just make sure you convert all the text in the file to paths.  You can do that by selecting all text and typing CTRL+Q.

What Does Not Work

Taking logos off a web page online is always a bad idea.  The art used in creating a web page is usually a low resolution image because that makes the file size smaller and allows it to load into a web browser faster, creating a faster loading page.  These files are often .gif files.  If you have a .gif file and want us to try it we will, but usually they will just print blurry and be very difficult to read on the final print.

Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Power Point files are not something we can open or use.  Microsoft Word .doc documents don't translate well into art for CorelDraw.  Please know that if you are using Word to create a layout to send to us, it rarely works.

Help?

All this being said we will take any kind of file that you have.  If the resolution is low, or if we have a problem opening it because it is proprietary and we don't have the program to open it we will contact you, let you know the issues at hand and give you the opportunity to make a decision to rectify the situation.

This is a lot of information and if you don't have an art department to help you out, please feel free to contact us and we will help you as much as we can for no additional charge.
